Danier Relaunches Under New Ownership

Date:

Share post:

Fashion brand Danier is re-launching store locations under new ownership and new strategy, dropping ‘Leather’ from its name and focusing on a variety of men’s and women’s fashion categories. The previous Danier Leather brand sought creditor protection in February of this year and closed its previous store locations, prior to being bought over the summer.

According to Danier’s Managing Director, Olga Koel, the brand will initially focus its expansion in Ontario with several new locations. Stores will be different than those of the previous brand, being lighter and more modern, reflecting an air of accessible luxury. Danier dropped ‘Leather’ from its name in order to carry a wider variety of products, which include apparel such as wool jackets and sweaters for both men and women. Prices are being kept reasonable to serve a wider market segment, with high-quality women’s silk blouses being priced at $150, for example, while pure merino wool sweaters cost $177. A variety of outerwear (both in wool and leather) is available, as are collections of footwear, bags and accessories. Ms. Koel described Danier’s new fashions as being fashion forward and high quality, serving a wide demographic with its competitive pricing.

The new Danier has already begun opening stores. Danier’s first new location opened last week in the expansion wing of Ivanhoe Cambridge’s overhauled Oshawa Centre. A second location has just opened at Mapleview Shopping Centre in Burlington, and a third location will open on October 13 at Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket.

New Danier stores will ideally be in the 1,500 to 2,000 square foot range and be located within enclosed shopping centres, according to Ms. Koel. She praised brokerage Northwest Atlantic and David George, who is representing the new Danier with its Canadian expansion plans.

  1. So happy about this news, Daniel Leather was such a big part of my annual wardrobe for so many years. It was one of the stores I was really sad to see go. Glad they had the chance to go back to the drawing board and reinvent themselves. Looking forward to visiting a store.

  2. This is fantastic news….I was concerned I would never be able to buy another leather jacket again. Love to buy at least one or 2 new ones per year…always from Danier🙂

  3. I was just in the Upper Canada Mall Danier!
Love love! The staff were so outgoing and helpful!
I’m so excited with the new look!
It was very classy walking in to the store..
I purchased the rectangular purse in black and love it!,
I will definitely be back for that black leather jacket!
Please start an Instagram page Danier!

  4. Fantastic news! Very happy to see this company back.
My wife and I always enjoyed the quality garments and helpful staff both in store and over the phone.
Hope they reopen here in Atlantic Canada!

  5. So glad to hear Danier is back and looking more like a Rudsak store now, modern and stylish. My wife and I both love leather and now have another great store to check out 🙂 Best of luck Danier !!

  6. For the past 20 years Danier was the only store where I was buying leather jackets and their other great products. First when I lived in Canada and then every time I was visiting. I sadly discovered upon returning to Canada that there were no more stores in Vancouver. I hope they will come back one day.

  7. U just paid 600 for a men jacket. There was no 150$ jacket lol.
    But im happy with it.
Now i gotta eat instant noodle for the next 4 months.

  8. As a previous employee this is very upsetting. To be out of a job, and then trying to find full time work. To find out they rebranded? Many people lost their jobs and didn’t receive their compensation. This was so distasteful of Danier and don’t be fooled, this is still in the process of being settled. Couldn’t even wait till after everything was settled to rebrand. Very very ashamed of this company and what they stand for

  9. I liked Danier Leather. I don`t feel the new merge will be as good as the Old one. I wish Danier realises how people worshipped them and will come back one day. But keep the quality.
