Business owners are constantly asked to pitch their ideas, their growth plans and the value of what they’re building. TD Insurance and Small Business Banking are flipping that familiar dynamic by bringing the pitch directly to them.

From October 21–23, The TD Insurance Elevator Pitch for Business will take over the Horseshoe at the STACKT Market in Toronto, flipping the traditional elevator pitch on its head.

The initiative offers business owners one-on-one conversations with personalized advice on how to protect and support their businesses, along with a few complimentary perks.

Tang Trang, Vice President, Small Business Insurance, TD Insurance said Small Business Month provides an ideal opportunity to celebrate the ambition, resilience and day-to-day realities of entrepreneurs.

“The TD Insurance Elevator Pitch brings that spirit to life through an engaging activation that takes a familiar business concept and turns it onits head. More than a creative experience, it creates meaningful opportunities to connect with small business owners across the GTA and introduce the ways TD Insurance and TD Small Business Banking can support them as their businesses evolve,” he said.

“There’s also a strong connection between this activation and STACKT Market. As a hub for entrepreneurs, local businesses and innovative ideas, it reflects the same spirit we’re looking to celebrate. Small business owners juggle countless priorities every day, and insurance isn’t always top of mind. By reversing the traditional elevator pitch format, we’re meeting entrepreneurs where they are and providing practical insights into how TD Insurance and TD Small Business Banking can help support both their current needs and future growth ambitions.”

Most common insurance and risk-management challenges

Trang said small business owners today are navigating a rapidly changing environment. While traditional concerns like property loss, theft and liability remain important, many entrepreneurs are also thinking about newer challenges such as supply chain disruptions and unexpected interruptions that can impact day-to-day operations.

“At the same time, business needs can change quickly as companies grow. Our recent TD Insurance research found that nearly one in four (23%) Canadian small business owners do not currently have business insurance, highlighting an opportunity for greater awareness and education. As entrepreneurs evolve their businesses, personalized insurance solutions can help ensure they’re protected at every stage of their journey.”

Personalized advice during one-on-one consultations

Every business is unique, and so are its insurance needs. Through one-on-one conversations with licensed TD Insurance Advisors, entrepreneurs can discuss their specific circumstances, ask questions and explore coverage options relevant to their operations, added Trang.

“They also have the opportunity to connect separately with TD Small Business Banking specialists to discuss banking solutions that support their business goals,” he said.

“Key considerations include industry, location, business operations and potential risks, such as liability, property damage or business interruption. The goal is to make these conversations more approachable and help business owners make informed decisions about protecting what matters most.”

Broader strategy supporting small business

Trang said TD Insurance recognizes that entrepreneurs are constantly balancing competing priorities, from managing everyday operations to planning for growth and preparing for the unexpected.

“Insurance and banking play distinct but complementary roles in building financial resilience. While insurance can help protect against covered risks and unexpected losses, banking solutions can provide personalized advice and day-to-day support for financial needs and business goals. The TD Insurance Elevator Pitch initiative creates an approachable space for entrepreneurs to explore both,” he said.

The recent TD Insurance survey shows that three-quarters (75%) of Canadian small business owners feel they have taken the right steps to strengthen or protect their business over the past year, noted Trang.

“These findings reinforce the importance of meeting entrepreneurs where they are, with accessible advice and solutions that reflect their unique needs. Initiatives like the TD Insurance Elevator Pitch for Business help bring this approach to life by making it easier for business owners to connect with experts and explore the support available to them,” he said.
