Food World Plus, a 176,000-square-foot multicultural grocery store backed by JDass Corp, is set to open today (October 30) in Mississauga, bringing a wide selection of international groceries, fresh food departments and prepared meals to the former Highland Farms location.
The store, at 50 Matheson Blvd. E., will offer products from Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, East Asia and South Asia, alongside traditional grocery staples and specialty food departments.
The opening represents an expansion of JDass Corp’s grocery retail operations in the Greater Toronto Area, with the company converting an established retail location into a large-format supermarket focused on international food products and a range of fresh and prepared offerings.

International grocery selection and fresh food departments
Food World Plus combines conventional supermarket departments with products and ingredients from a range of international cuisines. The company says the format is intended to allow shoppers to purchase everyday groceries and specialty ingredients in one location rather than visiting multiple stores.
The store will include fresh produce, meat, seafood, bakery products, dairy and prepared foods. Its meat department will feature Certified Angus beef and a segregated halal section, while its deli will offer charcuterie, platters, dips and specialty cheeses.
Other departments will include fresh sushi, coffee, pizza, Thai dishes and European prepared foods. The bakery will offer fresh products and eggless cakes, while additional selections will include chocolates, snacks, candies, flowers and gluten-free products.
The store will also carry international pantry staples, along with wine and beer.
“Our vision is to bring the diversity of global food markets into one 176,000-square-foot destination. We want Mississauga families to experience the convenience of shopping across cultures without visiting multiple stores,” said Preet Dass, COO of JDass Corp.
Opening promotions and rewards program
Food World Plus plans to have its full range of departments operating when it opens, with promotional offers and incentives for customers during its first week.
New members of its Variety Rewards program will receive 10,000 bonus points upon signing up, while eligible rewards will be doubled for customers spending $50 or more during opening week.
Customers spending at least $100 will also qualify for a grand prize draw. Listed prizes include two tickets to a Toronto Raptors game, a weekend getaway to Elora Mill, a 65-inch Roku television and a Hyundai Elantra.
The promotions are part of the store’s opening plans as it introduces its grocery and specialty food departments to the Mississauga market.

JDass Corp expands grocery retail operations
The new supermarket is part of JDass Corp’s broader business operations, which include retail, real estate development, metals, steel manufacturing and hospitality.
Founded in 1986, the Canadian company began with a single retail electronics store in downtown Toronto before expanding into multiple industries.
Food World Plus represents the company’s continued investment in grocery retail and its operations across the Greater Toronto Area.
Store hours listed by the company are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
