Vancouver’s Oakridge Park is adding a new interactive entertainment attraction through a partnership with Montreal-based multimedia studio Moment Factory, with Wonderground scheduled to open November 2, 2026.

Located on Level 1 of the West Galleria at 650 West 41st Avenue, Wonderground combines motion-responsive floor projections, lighting effects and digital games in a reservation-based entertainment experience. The space has also been designed to accommodate brand activations, private events and other programming, adding another commercial component to the mixed-use development by QuadReal Property Group and Westbank.

The attraction follows Oakridge Park’s May 28 opening and joins a growing calendar of fashion events, live performances, wellness activities and community programming at Vancouver’s new luxury retail destination.

Interactive Gaming Experience Opens November 2

Wonderground features seven games developed using Moment Factory’s Augmented Games platform. Participants interact with projected digital environments through physical movement, without handheld controllers, headsets or wearable equipment.

The games involve speed, coordination, memory and competition, with activities designed for individuals and small groups. Grid features a team-based ball challenge, Target requires players to collect designated targets while avoiding others, and Obstacles tests agility as participants navigate a changing digital environment. Other games include Hotspot, Polygon, Pathfinder and Memory.

According to Oakridge Park’s official website, sessions require reservations and take place in a supervised environment. Most games accommodate up to four participants, although one supports as many as eight.

The attraction will operate from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and noon to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Visitors can book sessions through Oakridge Park’s website.

Flexible Space Creates Commercial Opportunities

Beyond regular gaming sessions, Wonderground has been designed as a programmable multimedia environment capable of hosting branded pop-ups, curated dinner parties and other events.

The format gives Oakridge Park an additional ticketed attraction while creating opportunities for programming involving retailers, brands and event organizers. Its adaptable technology could allow different activities to occupy the same physical space throughout the year, providing another reason for visitors to spend time at the property.

Chrystal Burns, Executive Vice President, Canadian Retail Experience at QuadReal Property Group, said the installation reflects the company’s approach to creating shared experiences within the development.

Chrystal Burns, Executive Vice President, Canadian Retail Experience at QuadReal Property Group, speaks at the inaugural The Front Row: Fashion Through the Ages event on October 15, 2026, at Oakridge Park in Vancouver.

“Wonderground at Oakridge Park represents the kind of shared, immersive environment we believe defines the future of public spaces,” said Burns. “By blending technology, storytelling and the natural rhythm of the park, this installation creates a place where people can gather, explore and feel connected to each other and the environment around them. It will turn everyday moments into memorable experiences for the Vancouver community.”

The potential for commercial programming is particularly relevant as Oakridge Park develops its position as a destination for luxury shopping, dining, culture and entertainment.

Oakridge Park Builds a Calendar of Retail and Cultural Experiences

Wonderground joins a growing range of experiences at Oakridge Park, where QuadReal has been developing programming designed to bring visitors to the property for activities beyond shopping.

One of the most prominent examples was the inaugural The Front Row: Fashion Through the Ages event on October 15. Hosted by Canadian fashion personality Joe Zee, the evening featured a runway presentation involving luxury brands at the shopping centre, followed by an intimate live performance by Grammy Award-winning musician John Legend.

As Retail Insider reported in a detailed feature on the event, the production involved approximately 250 people and accommodated 612 seated guests. More than 40 boutiques hosted clients, while a promotional program offered access to the event through qualifying purchases at participating retailers.

The initiative demonstrated how Oakridge Park could connect entertainment programming with luxury retail activity. Invitations provided boutiques with opportunities to engage customers, arrange appointments and encourage purchases in advance of the event, with QuadReal intending to make The Front Row an annual occasion.

Smaller-scale experiences are also part of the property’s regular programming. According to Oakridge Park’s events calendar, activities include complimentary Tai Chi classes in the North Atrium, Wednesday Zumba sessions, live music and DJs, a chess club, and communal ping-pong and foosball.

The different formats serve a range of audiences, from luxury customers attending invitation-only events to local residents participating in complimentary wellness and recreational activities. Together, they give the property a schedule of activities extending beyond individual store openings and seasonal retail promotions.

Luxury boutiques are also creating their own experiences. Retail Insider has learned that French jewellery house Chaumet recently hosted a private event at its Oakridge Park boutique, with the company’s chief executive travelling to Vancouver for the occasion. The gathering is another example of how individual luxury brands can use their physical stores for customer engagement and relationship-building.

Wonderground adds a recurring, reservation-based attraction to this mix, with the additional flexibility to accommodate commercial activations and private gatherings.

Moment Factory Builds on Canadian Retail Experience

Moment Factory is a Montreal-headquartered multimedia entertainment studio with approximately 25 years of experience developing installations for entertainment venues, cultural attractions, public spaces and commercial properties.

The company says it has completed more than 600 projects internationally, combining interactive technology, lighting and digital storytelling. Its work includes projects for major entertainment organizations as well as installations within shopping centres.

Wonderground builds on technology Moment Factory has already introduced in Canadian retail environments. In 2025, the company collaborated with Playmind to install Augmented Games at Playbox Centre, an entertainment venue at Montréal’s Eaton Centre, incorporating interactive LED flooring and motion-controlled games into an existing pay-per-play arcade.

Moment Factory also developed an earlier ARcade installation at the Montréal Eaton Centre in 2022, associated with efforts to encourage activity in the downtown area. Its retail portfolio includes work involving Holt Renfrew and Tsawwassen Mills in British Columbia.

Patrick Bisson, Creative Director at Moment Factory, said the Oakridge Park installation was designed to integrate digital technology into the physical environment.

“Our mandate at Moment Factory is to build environments that bring people together through wonder, play, and shared discovery,” said Bisson. “At Oakridge Park, multimedia isn’t just on display, it’s woven into the physical landscape to create a digital playground where every visit feels unique and joyful, bringing people of all ages into the experience.”

The company’s earlier projects demonstrate how interactive entertainment can be incorporated into different commercial settings, although the operating arrangements and financial performance of those installations have not been disclosed.

Part of Oakridge Park’s Larger Development

Wonderground is the latest addition to Oakridge Park, which officially opened May 28 following years of redevelopment at the former Oakridge Centre shopping mall.

As Retail Insider reported at the opening, approximately 500,000 square feet of retail space was initially operational, with the shopping centre’s eventual retail component expected to total approximately 650,000 square feet.

The 28-acre development includes luxury and contemporary fashion retailers, restaurants, public art and cultural programming. Time Out Market Vancouver, a 51,000-square-foot food hall featuring local chefs and restaurant concepts, opened alongside the shopping centre in May as the dining brand’s second Canadian location.

Oakridge Park is being developed as a larger mixed-use community incorporating residential towers, office space, a community centre, library and a nine-acre park. The broader project is planned to encompass more than five million square feet when completed, including homes for more than 6,000 residents and approximately 720,000 square feet of office space.

The addition of Wonderground provides another scheduled activity alongside the property’s retail, dining and cultural offerings. Its adaptable format also creates opportunities for different entertainment and brand experiences as additional phases of Oakridge Park are completed.

The attraction is scheduled to begin welcoming visitors Monday, November 2. Reservations and operating information are available through the official Wonderground website.
