After more than a decade, Nike has returned to Toronto’s Bloor Street with the grand opening of its latest Canadian flagship, Nike Bloor. Located at 23 Bloor Street East in the One Bloor East development, the 17,000-square-foot store marks a milestone in the evolution of the neighbourhood’s retail scene.

Operated by Israel-based Fox Group, Nike Bloor blends premium product offerings with innovative design, re-establishing the brand’s presence in one of Canada’s most prestigious shopping districts. The store’s November 27 opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Nike athletes, teammates, and partners.

A Showcase of Nike Innovation and Style

Nike Bloor offers an elevated retail experience designed to ignite a love of sport and serve Toronto’s active community. Spanning two levels, the store features distinct spaces for women, kids, and men, each showcasing the latest innovations in training, running, and sportswear.

The first floor is dedicated to women’s and children’s collections, underscoring Nike’s commitment to inclusive design and innovation. The second level focuses on men’s offerings, from technical running shoes to stylish sportswear essentials.

In a nod to Canada’s winter climate, Nike Bloor opens with a specialized running collection, including the Nike Pegasus 41 GORE-TEX, designed for rain and snow, and the Nike Pegasus Trail 5 GORE-TEX, ideal for muddy terrains. Retro Running products such as the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 celebrate the brand’s heritage, blending performance with style.

Community Engagement: Customization Pop-Up by Toronto Artist

To celebrate the grand opening, Nike Bloor will host a customization pop-up from December 6–8. Shoppers can personalize Nike apparel using a silk-screening process with designs created exclusively for Nike Bloor by Toronto-based artist Rookie Made. This initiative underscores Nike’s commitment to local engagement and offers a unique experience for Toronto consumers.

Fox Group Expands Nike’s Footprint in Canada

Fox Group, a prominent international retail operator, has been instrumental in Nike’s Canadian growth. The company operates 25 of 44 Nike stores across the country, including smaller neighbourhood locations and large flagship spaces in major markets. Nike Bloor is the second flagship in Toronto, following the 24,000-square-foot store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre that opened in 2021.

Fox Group’s recent activities also include the launch of a Mango store next door to Nike Bloor, further diversifying Toronto’s retail offerings.

Neighbourhood Transformation: Bloor Street’s Rise as a Retail Hub

The opening of Nike Bloor comes at a pivotal time for Toronto’s Bloor-Yorkville area. Long celebrated as a hub for luxury retail, the neighbourhood has seen a wave of high-profile developments and openings. Just across the street, Vancouver-based Lululemon recently debuted its multi-level flagship at 2 Bloor Street West, while construction continues on The One, a mixed-use skyscraper at the southwest corner of Yonge and Bloor. Smeg also recently began construction of its Toronto flagship showroom next to Lululemon.

Bloor Street’s retail spaces have been rapidly filling with global names. Nike’s new flagship joins the likes of Holt Renfrew, Louis Vuitton, and Hermès, as well as newer entrants such as Arc’teryx and Browns Shoes. The One Bloor East podium itself has been fully leased, further establishing the area as a premier destination for retail and lifestyle experiences.

Nike operated a store at 110 Bloor Street in years past, spanning about 40,000 square feet with a former Niketown concept.

Eric Sherman, Head of National Operations at First Capital REIT, said, “We are thrilled to welcome this iconic brand to this iconic corner, adding to our incredible roster of retailers. It was a pleasure working with our partners at Fox to bring this Nike flagship to life”. First Capital owns the podium of One Bloor East and fully leased out the podium with other tenants including Mango, The Ballroom, Scotiabank (opening next year) and Avant by Altea active, a luxury fitness concept set to open on the second floor next yar.

Innovative Design by SAJO Sets New Standards

The architectural design and construction of Nike Bloor were spearheaded by SAJO, an international leader in retail construction. The store’s cutting-edge design features 20-foot-high ceilings, terrazzo flooring, and a sleek metal Unistrut grid ceiling that enhances the open, airy atmosphere.

One of the standout elements is a dramatic staircase made of stainless steel, metal, and glass, illuminated by reflective film and a mirrored ceiling. Above the staircase, a 40-foot digital screen delivers dynamic visuals, creating an immersive shopping experience.

SAJO also integrated advanced digital features throughout the space, including 20-foot-high digital tickers visible from the street and a fast-lane screen embedded in the display millwork. Despite a tight construction schedule, SAJO successfully delivered a flagship store that seamlessly blends Nike’s brand ethos with bold architectural elements.

Across the street, SAJO also built the Lululemon flagship store and has worked on other projects in the area, including a beautiful Kith store on Yorkville Avenue that opened last year.

Bloor Street’s Future: A Hub of Global Retail

Nike Bloor’s debut marks a turning point for Bloor Street East, solidifying its reputation as a hub for global retail and lifestyle experiences. With high-profile tenants like Lululemon, Mango, and Nike joining the area, Bloor-Yorkville is poised to attract even more international brands.
